Profession

Medical Director of the Goes Eye Centre Left Bank. The centre specializes in Refractive surgery, Excimer Laser surgery, Phakic IOL surgery, Clear Lensectomy and surgery of the anterior eye-segment.

Private practice was started in 1969.

In 1984, the first centre for outpatient surgery in Benelux was started in Antwerp. The centre has the following departments:
- Refractive surgery - Cataract surgery - Glaucoma - Argon laser -Oculoplastic surgery_ Yag laser - Electro physiology - 0CT-Fluoresceïn angiography - Topography - Automated perimetry - Contact lens adaptation - Low-Vision Adaptation -Contrast sensitivity testing-Orthopsy

In the centre Dr. Goes works with six other Ophthalmologists. Staff consists of one orthoptiste, 2 Optometrists, 5 nurses, 5 secretaries 4 technical assistants and six ophthalmologists.

Refractive Surgery was started in 1981 (Radial Keratotomy, Refractive Lensectomy).
The first Excimer Laser- Mel 60 Meditec- in Benelux was used since 1991, LTK Sunrise since 1994;
Lasik technique was introduced since 1996.
The Mel 70 Asclepion Meditec laser was in use since 1998:
Tosca (Topography Supported Customized Ablation) treatments are performed since 1998, Wasca (Wavefront guided Laser) treatments since 2000.
The Mel 80 Laser is in use since 2003.

Dr.F.J.Goes is the International representative for Belgium of I.S.R.S.:International Society of Refractive Surgery.
