  Half of all cases of blindness and 90% of all eye accidents can be avoided on condition that the necessary prevention is done.

A regular eye-Examination (a least yearly) is advisable for persons with a family history of eye diseases as cataract, glaucoma, strabismus, retinal diseases and congenital eye affections.

Patients who have some systemic diseases (diabetes, kidney diseases, hypertension) have to consult their physician regularly and may need eye examinations at regular intervals.

A preventive eye examination is of utmost importance specifically for children. Since, in order to grow up and to function properly, the eye apparatus should function normally from birth on till adulthood.
 
        
  Prevention adults

For people of over 40 years of age an examination on ocular pressure is advisable every two years.

For people of over 65 years of age an eye examination (fundoscopy, ocular pressure, refraction) is advisable every year.

High risk patients (diabetes, patients with a family history of glaucoma, cataract or retinal detachment need at least a yearly examination.
