  Amblyopia (a weak eye)

Amblyopia or incomplete development of the eye-sight in one eye, occurs in 3% of children. Its most frequent cause is strabismus, but also differences between the refractive condition of both eyes may be responsible for amblyopia.

In case the condition is not treated before the age of 6 years, incurable and sometimes important reduction of the eye-sight may be the final outcome.
The treatment of amblyopia has to be started at a very young age.
