  Low Vision

More than 300 years ago important optical devices for the visually handicapped were discovered, telescopes and telescopic loupes by Galilei (1609) Kepler (1611) and Descartes (1638).

The simplest magnification system brings the objects closer by - and it is used for nearby magnification. TV-loupes allow 50 X magnification. Normally, telescopes are used in order to see distant objects under magnification.

The ophthalmologist in collaboration with the "low vision adapter" determines which system is most suitable for the given disease.
