Other techniques of Refractive Surgery

In cases of important myopia and hypermetropia it is possible to replace the natural crystalline lens of the patient by an artificial lens which corrects the refractive anomaly. After this treatment the patient may still have to wear spectacles but with a very low dioptric value.
This is a surgical intervention with an existing risk factor. The technique gives spectacular results in high hyperopia and in important myopia.

A new development consists in the implantation in the cornea of a PMMA ring (ICR) in order to modify the curvature of it.

A revolutionary development is also the implantation in the eye of a secondary artificial lens (ICR) which corrects important anomalies of refraction. With this technique the surgeon has to open the eye in order to implant the phakic Iol.

Recently Dr. Goes uses also accomodative Iol's. These implant lenses diminish significantly the necessity of wearing reading spectacles
